Young Skydivers..!

The Australian Parachute federation (APF) administers the Sport of Parachuting in this country and among one of its highest priorities is to establish that the safety standards of this sport are maintained for all those who participate in skydiving throughout all 6 states.

Heli KidzUnder present APF rulings teenagers must be at least 14 years of age before they can participate in a Tandem Skydive with an experienced adult tandem instructor, and for solo skydivers they must be at least 18 years of age.

However, there is good news for those out there who want to skydive below the age of 14..!

In the past the APF have had numerous requests from both parents and kids alike who have expressed a very keen interest to experience freefall parachuting.

Owing to this interest, the APF conducted a 12 month trial in 2009 involving 25 young adults under the age of 14 which yielded very positive results.

The main aim of the study was not to increase the scope of who could or couldn't skydive but, instead to provide the facility and administration process for those teenagers who fell outside this age group and yet were so eager and passionate in wanting to skydive, to present them with the resources available to afford them the chance to jump.
